2Wire Home / Office Portal Router Setup

This setup assumes that the only changes that have been made to this unit have been done to establish internet connection and the remainder of the unit is in its default configuration.

The setup is given for the Home Portal. When setting up the Office Portal substitute "officeportal" for "homeportal" in the links given.

There are several variations of the 2Wire modem from several different Internet providers. Your specific variation may not be shown.
  1. Verify that you currently have working Internet access by opening your Internet browser and going to any web site. If you do not have Internet access contact the Internet provider for assistance.
  2. Enter the DVR network setup.
    1. If you have the option of DHCP select it and go to the next step.
    2. If you do not have this option then type http://homeportal/management in the address bar of your Internet browser. Under "Troubleshooting" click on "WAN Test". Type the IP address of the DVR into the "IP Address" field. Select "Ping" from the drop down and click start. You must get a reply before continuing onto the next step.
  3. Gain access into the Router setup by typing into the address bar of your internet browser http://homeportal and hit the enter key.
  4. When you enter the Router you will start at the "Home" page.
5.   Click on the "Broadband" link icon at the top of the screen. You will see the Router's Internet or WAN status. The IP shown is the current outside IP address of the Router. Make a note of this number.
6.   Click on the "Protect Your Network" icon at the top of the screen. Click on at the bottom of this screen.
7.   From the "Edit Firewall Pass-Through Settings" select "Add a new user-defined application". There are several communication ports that must be opened in the Router to allow the IRAS software to connect to the DVR. ADMIN - 8200, WATCH - 8016, SEARCH - 10019 and CALLBACK - 8201(Not always used. Refer to the DVR manual).
8.   Give the application a descriptive name such as "DVR". Under "definition", type in the appropriate information. Protocol - TCP Port, Range - 8200 to 8200, Protocol Timeout - 86400, Map to Host Port - 8200. Continue to add all appropriate ports and click
9.   Select the DVR from the "Host Computer" drop down. Select the application that you just created from the list on the left side. Click the "ADD" icon and then click "DONE".
10.   You will see the changes that you have made to the "Firewall Settings".
11.   You are now ready to connect with the IRAS software.
