This setup assumes that the only changes that have been made to this unit have been done to establish internet connection and the remainder of the unit is in its default configuration.
Verify that you currently have working Internet access by opening your Internet browser and going to any web site. If you do not have Internet access contact the Internet provider for assistance.
Gain access into the router by typing into the address bar of your Internet browser http://192.168.0.1 and hit the enter key. You should see a new window open that prompts you to enter a user name and password. Type "admin" as the user name and leave the password field blank.
Once you enter the router you will start at the "Home" page. Click on the "Status" tab and see your WAN IP address. The IP shown is the current outside IP address of the router. This address should not be an IP that starts with 10.X.X.X, 192.168.X.X or 172.16.X.X. If it is then the modem that the D-Link is connected to is also a router and should be configured in a bridged or pass through mode before continuing. Please contact the Internet provider to assist you with making this configuration change.
Decide upon what IP address you will use for the DVR. It must be an IP address that functions with the router, it cannot be used by any other device, it should be statically assigned and outside the DHCP pool. In most cases an IP from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.99 will work.
Next click on "Advanced". On the left hand side you will see "Virtual Server". Give the application a descriptive name such as ADMIN, WATCH and SEARCH. Type in your private or inside IP address of the DVR. Select "TCP" for the protocol type. Type in your private and public port numbers. In most applications they will be the same port number. The default port numbers that are used on the DVR are 8200 - Admin, 8016 - Watch, 10019 - Search and 8201 - Call Back (not always used. Please refer to the DVR manual).
Enter the Private IP address that was used in the "Virtual Server" into the IP Address setup of the DVR. In the DVR gateway input the router IP 192.168.0.1.
When connecting from inside the network use the inside number that is setup in the DVR. When connecting from outside use the DVRNS name.
