This setup assumes that the only changes that have been made to this unit have been done to establish internet connection and the remainder of the unit is in its default configuration.
Verify that you currently have working Internet access by opening your Internet browser and going to any web site. If you do not have Internet access contact the Internet provider for assistance.
Gain access into the router by typing into the address bar of your Internet browser http://192.168.1.254 and hit the enter key. You should see a new window open that prompts you to enter a user name and password. This is obtained from the Internet provider.
Once you enter the router you will start at the "Home" page. You will see the routers Internet or WAN status. The IP shown is the current outside IP address of the router. Make a note of the IP address shown.
Click on "Expert Mode", then on "Configure" and then on "Advanced".
Click on "Pinholes". There are communication ports that must be opened in the router to allow the IRAS software to connect to the DVR. ADMIN - 8200, WATCH - 8016, SEARCH - 10019 and CALLBACK - 8201(Not always used. Refer to the DVR manual).
Decide upon what IP address you will use for the DVR. It must be an IP address that functions with the router, it cannot be used by any other device, it should be statically assigned and it must be outside the DHCP pool. In most cases an IP from 192.168.1.200 to192.168.1.253 can be used.
Enter the number that you have decided upon into the DVR's IP address. Enter the modems IP address into the "Gateway" of the DVR.
Type a descriptive "Pinhole Name". Select the "TCP" protocol. Type in the first port number in "External Port Start", "External Port End" and "Internal Port". Type in the DVR's IP address in the "Internal IP Address" box.
When connecting from inside the network use the local number that is setup in the DVR. When connecting from outside the network use the DVRNS name.
